- Launch of "Banco Millennium" in Poland, with the simultaneous opening of 22 branches;
- Incorporation of "Classis Renting" - a joint venture established between BCP and "GE Capital";
- Launching of the "American Express Corporate Card" in the Portuguese market;
- First asset securitisation operation of the BCP to the value of 45,500 million Escudos;
- Launching of a new account - "Conta Recheio" - conceived in association with the "Jerónimo Martins's Group", aimed at "Recheio" cash and carry customers;
- Creation of the extended opening hours for 52 branches of the Novarede and of the Atlântico until 18:00h;
- Incorporation of "BIM Investimento";
- Launching of "BCP Universitário" - a new service aimed at university students;
- Creation of the Gabinete 2000, with the function of co-ordinating all the adaptation work of the BCP Group for the year 2000, begun in 1997..
